Small Carrie Coffee Table in Walnut

This smaller version of the Carrie Coffee Table employs an unusual use of half-lap joints in construction of the top, arguably one of the strongest methods for building a panel or, in this case, a table top. The half-lap joints are additionally reinforced by bringing the leg through the top and using them as wedged pegs. One will find, upon further inspection, the employment of sliding dovetails in the connection between the shelf support and the stretchers, pegged connections between the shelf and its support as well as to the stretchers (invisible to the eye, the pegs connecting the shelf to the stretchers themselves employ sliding dovetails to allow the wood natural seasonal movement). We have built this table in a couple of very different scales, designed to work in a multitude of spaces.
